All That Glitters
I think that Barack Obama is a very inspirational figure, and that his influence on getting youth out and voting and active in politics is admirable. I feel that the youth who simply cheer for Obama because he is Obama is apathy to the worst level but in all honesty people do that on both sides of the “big line”.
I do, however, want to bring up something important – Looking out for your own, yourself, interests even with someone you trust. This is a great life lesson but a lesson here in particular. 850 BILLION dollars are going to be spent on this stimulus package, wich is all fine and dandy… I want money to be given back to me as well. However, what is this money being spent on? Me? Nope.
Nearly 100 BILLION dollars are going to cash-strapped state governments (governments that couldn’t manage their finances in the first place), and 350 BILLION dollars in “Infrastructure, Alternative Energy, and ‘Other Priorities’ “. What does this mean though? It means that your hard earned tax dollars are going to fund a 1.5 Million dollar water ride and a 4.8 MILLION dollar polar bear exhibit. These expenses are wasteful, but you guys won’t hear about it from the media, of course not.
Now there are some good things a Biofuel plant in Iowa, that sounds nice, it will give Iowa people jobs… oh wait, I have to pay $500 MILLION dollars for that? Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz wants to build a boat repair yard… oh sorry that was a Yacht repair yard. Lets get real America!
You know what else I love? Giving my money to people who don’t even live here. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that fact that illegal immigrants may file a tax return, and we will give them a check too! FREE MONEY FOR EVERYONE!!! I think Julio McCrea is my room mate and he wants his tax rebate too. As a dual citizen, I could easily skip taxes and not be caught…. but I don’t do that because I like helping out my country and making sure that it has enough money to keep functioning: What I DON’T like is giving my money to people who don’t live here… and who just drain our resources… lets take the tax returns from illegal immigrants and give that money to the hospitals that they have bankrupted in Southern California? Ha ha!
Oh by the way 350 BILLION dollars that is going to “Infrastructure, Alternative Energy, and ‘Other Priorities’ ” can fuel all of americas cars for around a year!! I wouldn’t mind having free gas for a year, can that be my incentive? How about 7MILLION free rides to harvard? $30 Billion Dollars would provide education to EVERY CHILD ON EARTH for a year. Ohh or we can just spend $54 Billion dollars and end starvation and malnutrition GLOBALLY. (Boston.com) I don’t like blowing my money on proejcts like these… but I feel we can all agree these are better than a foot ball stadium.
Its really easy spending other peoples money… why not take a pay cut congress, to fund some of these things. I understand your desire to help out the people in your state… so take some of your money, and give it to them directly. Sometimes what glitters is gold… and I am going to keep that gold hidden away under my bed because how it looks now, if those people see it they are going to rip it from my hands and give it to some dumb cause.

What Does Your Political Party Say About You?
I decided to take a step back from politics and give a view of what someone who was new to politics would think about all of us ideologues who are really into our particular party and how silly it must look.
Republican:
You think (you KNOW) that the United States kicks ass, and should be the global law who dictates peace as the United States has the true moral authority in the world. New things are horrible and we should stick to the things we know best (mainly Guns, God, and some how NASCAR fits in there as well). Republicans like making their own way and don’t need or want help from anyone else. The more money you have just shows how successful you are. Republicans hate a big government and would have anarchy if they could, Anarchy rocks -> Communist’s are sissies.
As for how you are probably dressed… You are either wearing blue jeans, and you don’t look like you have showered in a week (its okay you probably haven’t), with greasy hair; or you are in business casual even sitting at home reading this, with your nice haircut you just got to make sure it never grows out more than 5 inches.
Democrats:
The United States isn’t as good as we think they are, are they? You know that the United States is falling behind in Education, Technology, and in the Environment. By working together, we can all come to a happy agreement with everyone else in the world, throwing around military power is for Power Hungry Imperialists. Just because someone doesn’t have as much money as other people, doesn’t mean they shouldn’t have the same opportunities, and if someone has a lot of money they should give that money to other people so they can have a chance. Communism would be great, anarchy is simply dumb… people who try to fend for themselves are greedy assholes.
You look like either you are in the glamour scene with your hair done up real fancy, and are in your pearls even though you are walking around the house; or you are have your long unkept hair and a pair of jeans you just picked up at Good Will.
Independents:
Well hello my “Political Parties all suck, so lets create another one” friend. You are fed up with “the system”: The Republicans are wimpy, despite their tough guy, “Our way or your not an American”, way of doing things… and fail at recognizing new age issues. The Democrats are crazy and want to spend too much of your hard earned cash. You, are a moderate… You see there is an issue with immigration, but the idea of giving everyone a free pass doesn’t sound right, but neither does building a gigantic wall with a “keep out” sign. You enjoy being the swing vote, everyone knows that you are typically not a straight party line voter… and you make the candidates WORK for your vote because in the end elections are won and lost by your vote.
You look like your average American… you probably would get lost in a crowd
Libertarians:
You don’t want other people medaling in your life and want to be left the hell alone as long as you are not hurting anyone else. Like the republicans you don’t like your money going to other people and think everyone should fend for themselves, however you take it to the next level… you don’t want to give ANY of your money to other people. You don’t think the United States has any right to be throwing its weight around, and think we might be getting too big for our britches.
Pot is cool, and doing drugs is your own right, just don’t sell them to little kids (or anyone for that matter)… Just stick to the organic stuff.
You are an older person, you remember the good old days before them damn young’ins started screwing up our political system. Your an American damn it, you should be able to do what you want when you want huh?
Green Party:
Your not a communist… but you think Karl Marx is a badass. We need to be paying attention to whets important… not silly things like immigration. You want the United States to start saving the planet, being more eco-friendly, and start getting more children in seat belts. Men and women have NO differences, that’s silly. Ralph Nader rocks. You are kind of like the Democrats little brother party, whose only really dragging the dems down in votes.
Hopefully you don’t look like Ralph Nader who looks like a guy with AIDS who had a stroke. You are probably wearing a tie-die shirt with your green peace flag in the middle of it. Your a member of PETA, Greenpeace, and Save the Whales.
United States Marijuana Party Members:
You love your pot and your not afraid to admit it, you are not just going to sit on your couch everyday smoke some “Jane”… You want to stand up for your rights to smoke pot as much as you would like. You keep trying to get the political system in your favor by showing countless statistics on how marijuana is actually good for your health… and how its all a big conspiracy on why its illegal (just like how the United States never really went to the moon, and 9/11 was obviously an inside job). You are also not the casual marijuana smoker either, your the guy/girl that is out there convincing your friends and family that they should be smoking it too. You are probably a grower, and when you go to jail for it, you tell everyone you went as though it was a trophy you won. Kudos man…. Kudos.
You have dread locks, and dirt under your nails… if your a white guy your also probably pale white too.

Lets Get To Work… For Us
The future of the United States looks dimmer and dimmer to me every day. This isn’t as a Conservative, this as a human being who wants whats best for my country, and I have my hands tied for what I can do myself. Unfortunately, you can’t just want to work across the isle in politics anymore because you will be shunned from your own people, and the other guys don’t want to work with you anyway. Why can’t we have a clean country with a move to bio-fuel, without the government?
The reason I am sad with the way our country is going is because of the obvious lack of self motivation. The liberal mindset is “Just raise my taxes and pay for it to be done”, which isn’t a slam against liberals, its simple fact. Normally, I would say “that’s ridicules because we as citizens can band together and just make the change our self’s”. The problem is, that we are NOT doing it on a massive level… and since we are NOT doing it on a massive level the prices are high, because there is not enough demand to bring down the prices. So we HAVE to rely on our government to push for a less foreign oil dependant United States.
It once again falls down to the new war between Neo-Conservatives and Neo-Liberals, which is simply this:
A Conservative says the sky is blue, and the liberals will say its green.
Liberals will say they LOVE cheese so all the Conservatives will begin to HATE cheese.
Its silly, sad, and pathetic. The normal people of this country know this, and are jaded by it. They know things wont change in our government, so it falls back to the people who keep making the same decissions over and over again. I would be thrilled to see a bill passed that would make every current senator is replaced. I know we have some good ones… but it would weed out enough of the bad ones that it would be worth it.
Its not just that but it seems like the inmates are running the insane asylum. Since when do Conservatives listen to Rush Limbaugh or Anne Coulter for anything other than cheap entertainment? How about the liberal professors who seem to be coming out of the wood-works not just preaching helpful suggestions for our future, but blatant hate. We seem to be dividing rather than coming together, independents really have no where to go, because it seems you have a bunch of loonys on both sides… Its not a choice of who is best for the job, its who will be the less of two evils.
Accurate facts are hard to come by, and statistics and facts are no longer relevant, because both sides have the same amount of facts backing up their mindset there is no possible way to know, they balance themselves out. And its hard to go further if you only say why the other guy is dumb.
In the spirit of coming up with suggestions for good rather than just complaining here is what I am offering up to make things better. Lets get a group of senators, republican and liberal, and have some other heads of other political parties so they can give their input… and we will just have a nice long meeting until we can find out what we can all agree on, some give and take (Conservatives can build their wall, but we want to build a nuclear plant instead of drilling off shore… or even a simple meet in the middle… new ideas would always be better).
People are quickly losing faith in their government (which is why they are becoming further left and right, towards anarchy and communism), we need some MAJOR change soon, not just cheap allusions and bickering.
